Ashley or Kaidan reveals that he or she had been dispatched to Horizon after the Alliance received a tip that Horizon was the next colony to get hit. The mood quickly changes when the former squadmate discovers that Shepard is working with Cerberus. If Ashley or Kaidan had been a romantic partner in Mass Effect, a brief cutscene plays showing their reunion.
